I’m trying to figure out how to calculate a monthly payment for a $150,000 loan with a 5.5% interest rate that is monthly. The loan is 30 years (360 months). What do I do? I understand what amortization is, it’s just confusing to calculate.

Go to an online amortization calculator, such as at.
The amount is $851.68. On Excel, use the PMT function.
total amount after 360 months is 306,606.06 with 156,606.06 being interest.
Some great sites to go to our bankrate.com or you can google for a loan or mortgage calculator. I just used an app on my iphone call 9-toolbox. but there are a lot of free mortgage calculators online and some will show the amortization chart

Hopefully you have Excel. Under the “Functions” option you will find a calculation entitled “PMT”. This should help you calculate what you need.
