Why don’t you and your husband and any of his siblings help them until he can find a decent job.

Why did he give up his job? Surely he should have taken sick leave rather than resigned?
Does he not have any cover for his mortgage. usually when you take out a mortgage you have to have life/illness cover. He could claim on that?

They must speak to the mortgage company immediately, they may be able to get a payment holiday or pay less for a while until they get things sorted. Mortgage companies would rather try and sort it out in the long term rather than repossess as they lose money/goodwill by repossessing but they WILL do it if you haven’t sorted anything out with them. Better to do that then try to get free money from somewhere.

Ring up the Benefits office – might be entitled to Housing Benefit

I suggest you get off Yahoo Answers and go and find a job yourself.

Call the mortgage company and explain the situation. They are not entitled to help with mortgage payments from the state, that stopped many years ago. If they cant afford to pay it, they will lose the house, i.e a repossesion order will be put on it.

To pay a Fixed rate mortgage. You need a Fixed Rate INCOME. Sounds silly – but, logical. Try to spread your finances, over a MONTH say, Look at all outgoings and all INCOMES.
A big help is You can download sheets of expenses and incomes and D I Y. OR, you can do it on the internet. Feed in full details and the site monitor will work it out for you. It is a Gov. run thing and is FREE.
Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK.
